Wang Lingguan Five Thunders Carved Command Taoist Plaque

Wang Lingguan is the figure named for this Five Thunders design. The carving concentrates the figure on an upright plaque rather than presenting a freestanding statue.

Sold individually.

The Five Thunders name evokes thunder command in Taoist ritual imagery. A devotee may choose this motif for protection or as a guardian emblem for the home. The inscription and its layout distinguish one rendition from another.

For display, decide which face you want to read from a little distance. Deep relief and narrow incised lines catch side light differently; leave room around the outline rather than pressing the face against another object.
