Color-Rim Shangui Coin Taoist Charm

A square opening sits inside a round face with red and green accents. Fine border patterns trace the outer rim.

Look first at the main motif of the color-rim shangui coin charm. Its place in the Daojing collection reflects the use of ornament and inscription to carry a personal intention. Choose the particular design that speaks to the occasion, rather than assuming every motif has the same devotional use.

Think about where the charm will hang and which way its design will face. A loop intended for a cord is not necessarily large enough for a clasp or a key ring; check the opening before choosing an attachment.
