Crescent Divination Taoist Blocks with Trigram Lines

The curved blocks taper toward pointed ends. Short horizontal bars are arranged on their flatter faces.

Sold individually.

The eight trigrams are arrangements of broken and unbroken lines. In a Taoist setting, the bagua can be chosen as a protective emblem for a household; the arrangement of the lines also gives the design its distinctive rhythm.

The faces and curves are part of how divination pieces are handled and read. Compare the precise form in the views; a crescent block and a tortoiseshell-shaped piece are not interchangeable simply because both belong to a divination collection.
