Five Mountains Taoist Scroll-Border Plaque

The figure-like emblems fit inside a scalloped border. Curved lettering fills the companion side almost to the edge.

Sold individually.

The Five Mountains motif identifies the design family. Read the other inscriptions as well: pieces with a similar front can have a different reverse.

Look first at the main motif of the five mountains scroll-border plaque. Its place in the Daojing collection reflects the use of ornament and inscription to carry a personal intention. Choose the particular design that speaks to the occasion, rather than assuming every motif has the same devotional use.

Before choosing a wall, measure the available space from the hanging point down. Allow breathing room on both sides of the painted field. Hanging hardware and the overall mounted size should not be inferred from the painted dimensions.
