Taoist Jade Emperor Ritual Paper

The photographed sheet has a yellow ground and a contrasting red square impression. The repeating fine rows create a different texture from the central seal.

Look first at the main motif of the jade emperor ritual paper. Its place in the Daojing collection reflects the use of ornament and inscription to carry a personal intention. Choose the particular design that speaks to the occasion, rather than assuming every motif has the same devotional use.

Consider the orientation and border when choosing a frame or a place to keep the piece. A close-up of script shows the design more clearly than it shows scale. Use the listed dimensions where available rather than estimating them from a photograph.

The supplier lists paper for this design.
