Taoist Narrow Script and Seal Band

A small framed seal interrupts the clean curve of the band. The angled views show how its inscription fits across the top.

Look first at the main motif of the narrow script and seal band. Its place in the Daojing collection reflects the use of ornament and inscription to carry a personal intention. Choose the particular design that speaks to the occasion, rather than assuming every motif has the same devotional use.

Compare the inside diameter with a ring that fits the same finger. The width of the band affects how it feels. An open-looking band is not evidence that it can safely be bent to any size.
