Nine Dragons Taoist Square Seal Ornament

Close relief work fills the straight-sided face of the square seal. The featured view shows the textured face above a dark red display support.

Look first at the outline and relief of the nine dragons square seal ornament. Its place in the Daojing collection reflects the use of ornament and inscription to carry a personal intention. Choose the particular design that speaks to the occasion, rather than assuming every motif has the same devotional use.

For a shelf or altar, consider the object from your usual viewing height. Leave enough space around the outline for the carving to be seen. Display supports and neighboring objects in a photograph are not a reliable guide to its scale.

The supplier lists jujube wood for this design.
