Pale-Line Taoist Plaque with Geometric Corners

Large pale markings occupy the center of a rectangular plaque, framed by geometric corner details. Small dots run along the visible side, while the opposite face shows inscriptions and a circular motif.

Sold individually.

Look first at the outline and relief of the pale-line plaque with geometric corners. Its place in the Daojing collection reflects the use of ornament and inscription to carry a personal intention. Choose the particular design that speaks to the occasion, rather than assuming every motif has the same devotional use.

For display, decide which face you want to read from a little distance. Deep relief and narrow incised lines catch side light differently; leave room around the outline rather than pressing the face against another object.
