Peace Inscription and Lunar Bagua Taoist Plaque

A pale disc above and crescent below frame the yin-yang motif. Tall calligraphy on the other face is gathered into an elongated oval.

Sold individually.

Ping an is a wish for peace or safety. It is the reason this motif is chosen for a peace-wish gift rather than a description of what the object can do.

Zhao Gongming is honored in traditions of prosperity. A piece bearing his name can express a wish for a flourishing livelihood, particularly as a gift for someone opening a business or beginning a new venture.

For display, decide which face you want to read from a little distance. Deep relief and narrow incised lines catch side light differently; leave room around the outline rather than pressing the face against another object.
