Rounded Yin-Yang and Trigram Taoist Plaque

A rounded, capsule-shaped plaque with a yin-yang motif, eight groups of trigram bars and pale markings below. A pale border follows the outline, framing the warm-toned, grain-patterned surface.

Sold individually.

Bagua refers to the eight trigrams. Look for arrangements of three-line signs; these are a different motif from the paired curves of a yin-yang disk.

The yin and yang design draws attention to the relationship between complementary forces. In a gift, it can express a wish for balance and harmony, whether the piece is intended for personal wear or for the home.

For display, decide which face you want to read from a little distance. Deep relief and narrow incised lines catch side light differently; leave room around the outline rather than pressing the face against another object.
