Yin-Yang and Eight Trigrams – Corner-Motif Taoist Plaque

The face pairs a central yin-yang design with eight trigrams and four corner motifs. The angled view also shows the plaque's depth and the pattern that continues along its side.

Sold individually.

Bagua refers to the eight trigrams. Look for arrangements of three-line signs; these are a different motif from the paired curves of a yin-yang disk.

The yin and yang design draws attention to the relationship between complementary forces. In a gift, it can express a wish for balance and harmony, whether the piece is intended for personal wear or for the home.

For display, decide which face you want to read from a little distance. Deep relief and narrow incised lines catch side light differently; leave room around the outline rather than pressing the face against another object.
