Yin-Yang Taoist Plaque with Flowing Linework

A central yin-yang motif is surrounded by flowing pale linework, with smaller markings at the corners and along the side. Rounded lower corners soften the outline; the reverse face carries characters arranged in a circle.

Sold individually.

The yin and yang design draws attention to the relationship between complementary forces. In a gift, it can express a wish for balance and harmony, whether the piece is intended for personal wear or for the home.

For display, decide which face you want to read from a little distance. Deep relief and narrow incised lines catch side light differently; leave room around the outline rather than pressing the face against another object.
