Zhong Kui Carved Portrait Taoist Plaque

The carved portrait has a prominent brow and beard. A large raised character sits inside the bordered companion face.

Sold individually.

Zhong Kui is a guardian figure traditionally associated with warding off harmful influences. His image may be chosen to watch over a doorway or as a protective gift. The figure, rather than a generic color, is what gives this theme its meaning.

For display, decide which face you want to read from a little distance. Deep relief and narrow incised lines catch side light differently; leave room around the outline rather than pressing the face against another object.

For measurements or material details not listed here, ask about this exact piece before ordering. A photograph can show color and surface detail but cannot establish composition or scale.
