Zhong Kui Portrait and Red Seal Taoist Plaque

A red outlined portrait fills one face of the plaque. The other has a bold red character inside a finer corner border.

Sold individually.

Zhong Kui is a guardian figure traditionally associated with warding off harmful influences. His image may be chosen to watch over a doorway or as a protective gift. The figure, rather than a generic color, is what gives this theme its meaning.

For display, decide which face you want to read from a little distance. Deep relief and narrow incised lines catch side light differently; leave room around the outline rather than pressing the face against another object.
