Red Seal Taoist Talisman Paper Strip

A tall yellow ground sets off the red seal motif. The narrow format leaves more space for the vertical writing than for a surrounding decorative border.

Dimensions: 20 × 7 cm.

Sold individually.

Look first at the main motif of the red seal taoist talisman paper strip. Its place in the Daojing collection reflects the use of ornament and inscription to carry a personal intention. Choose the particular design that speaks to the occasion, rather than assuming every motif has the same devotional use.

Consider the orientation and border when choosing a frame or a place to keep the piece. A close-up of script shows the design more clearly than it shows scale. Use the listed dimensions where available rather than estimating them from a photograph.
